Rivage Color Puzzle
How the demo hatch, RGB mixes, and K9 contactless upgrade fit together on A.R.E.S.
The Rivage demo hides a late-loop hatch behind a color-mixing board. Players treat it as a wall of lights and then burn a whole power bar guessing. It is not the same machine as the 11-volt NKOhm circuit on a maintenance panel, and it is not the first thing you should touch in a loop. This page is the order of operations for the demo path only. The full game launches on September 22, 2026; Exnilo already said some puzzles were reworked after the demo came down. Use this as grammar, not as a spoiler of launch-day rooms.
If you have not yet learned that loops end when station power dies, read the time-loop guide first. If you have not banked a single screenshot in K9, do that before you stand in front of the hatch. Color work is expensive because the room sits after lobby access, and lobby access sits after pharmacy batteries and pod-bay keys. The first-hour walkthrough and the loop planner put this puzzle at the end of a run on purpose.
What the color board is actually asking
The hatch is an additive-color machine. Channels behave like light, not like paint. Red, green, and blue combine toward white. Two of the same channel can cancel toward a void when the board is in a subtract mode. Community videos of the demo walk through mixes such as red plus green plus blue with nothing subtracted equaling white, or pairing blue and green when a turquoise channel is already occupying a slot. The exact tile you need changes if a neighboring cell is already contributing a hue. That is why brute force feels random: you are solving a small system, not a memory matching game.
Take a K9 screenshot of the legend on the wall before you drag a single chip. The legend is the puzzle. The hatch is only the lock that listens to it.
Prerequisite: exhibition computer and the contactless K9 update
A short demo tutorial that exists specifically for this hatch is clear about the order. You cannot treat the color board as a standalone toy. First unlock the computer in the exhibition / lobby area. That computer is the same machine the walkthrough reaches after the jigsaw audio log. It asks for a password you assemble from crew notes, not from guessing four digits.
Once the computer is open, install the contactless K9 update — the one marked with a wireless / Wi-Fi style icon in the demo UI. The update is the missing verb. Without it, Miranda cannot talk to the hatch the way the board expects. With it, the K9 implant can autofill or handshake with the panel instead of forcing you to stand there repeating a mix you already proved. That is the same design idea as banking a safe code: the station still resets objects, but your knowledge layer gets thicker.
If the computer is still locked, you are not late on colors. You are late on lobby intel. Go back to Aman’s locker notes, the audio jigsaw, and whatever password fragments the crew roster left on desks. Do not spend remaining power on a hatch that will not listen.
How to work the mixes without wasting the loop
- Confirm K9 has the contactless update. If the icon is missing, leave the hatch.
- Photograph the legend. White, void, and any named secondary (turquoise, magenta) are instructions, not decorations.
- Build white as a sum of the three primaries unless the legend already subtracts a channel. If turquoise is sitting in a cell, you may need to cancel it before white will land.
- Build a void by cancelling a channel against itself (two reds minus two reds is the example used in the demo tutorial). Void is not “turn the lights off.” It is a legal output.
- Bank the successful pattern in K9 the moment the hatch clicks. The next loop should not re-derive the mix from scratch.
If a mix looks right and the hatch stays shut, you are usually missing the contactless update, not a fourth color. That is the expensive mistake.
Do not confuse this with the 11-volt board
A different demo puzzle uses a maintenance reader labeled like an NKOhm board. That one wants 11 volts from signed chips: yellow as a large negative, red as a smaller negative, green as −1 in the recordings players made, with positives on the other side of the legend. It lives in a wall cabinet, not on the hatch. Mixing those two puzzles in your head is how you spend a loop teaching the wrong machine. The puzzle catalog keeps both on the same list so you can tell them apart when you round a corner.
The color hatch is about light. The voltage cabinet is about signed arithmetic. K9 should hold a screenshot of each legend as a separate card.
Where this sits in a demo loop
Typical demo routing puts the color hatch after you already have lobby access, a printed or repaired keycard, and enough intel to open the exhibition computer. That means you have already paid for pharmacy batteries, pod-bay services, and at least one Time Trickster reset. If you open the hatch room with two power ticks left, you will solve the legend and still fail the handshake. Budget a clean loop for it. The loop planner is the place to mark “computer first, hatch second.”
Miranda does not get a unique color-blind setting called out in public materials. If a mix is hard to read, use K9 screenshots and the written legend, not the glow alone. Controls for inspecting objects are on the controls page.
After the hatch
Demo players who finish the color mix usually go back to Aman’s locker tape or a PXL video fragment rather than into a new wing of the finished campaign. Treat the hatch as the demo’s late toy, then stop. The public Steam demo was pulled on August 20, 2026 because UI, voice lines, narrative hints, and some puzzles changed. A mix that worked in April may be restaged on September 22. When the full game unlocks, this page should be checked against the ship build, not copied blindly into a launch-night guide.
For the rest of the station’s toys, stay on the puzzles hub. For the room list around the hatch, use the A.R.E.S. map. For whether the demo is still the right place to practice, read the demo notes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What do I need before the Rivage color hatch will open?
Unlock the exhibition / lobby computer and install the contactless K9 update (the wireless icon). Then solve the RGB legend. See the walkthrough for how you reach that computer.
Is the color puzzle the same as the 11-volt panel?
No. The hatch uses additive light mixes. The cabinet reader wants signed voltages. Keep them as separate K9 screenshots. The puzzle catalog lists both.
Why does a correct-looking mix still fail?
Usually the contactless K9 update is missing, or a neighboring cell is already adding a hue such as turquoise. Bank the legend in K9 before you spend the last of your power.
Will this mix still work on September 22, 2026?
Where does this puzzle sit in a loop?
Late. You want lobby access, keycard work, and the exhibition computer first. Plan that order on the loop planner.
